Weeks 3 & 4
Lastly, we wanted students to see how musical artists tell stories throughout entire albums and even across multiple albums. For this week, our concepts will be similar to the first week of the unit. We will analyze how musical artists tell stories that extend beyond a song—how the conventions change or stay the same, what challenges that poses, and how it is similar or different from prose narratives. We will dig in to Pink Floyd’s The Wall, because of its renown as a great concept album and Kanye West’s college trilogy.
The last week of the unit is devoted solely to working on the final project, so no knew concepts are introduced. The goal for that week is assessment.
